2. Diagonal Tile is Best

Again, the illusion of space diagonally laid tile provides can be helpful when you’re dealing with small square footage. When you install tile straight at a 90-degree angle, it’s easier to subconsciously count the tile.

We’re talking going with 1” tiles, which will be 10x the number of grout lines than a 12” square tile. The key to making the room feel less grid-like is to match the grout closely with the tiles color.
